1 tbsp maple syrup
1 tbsp coconut oil or peanut oil
1 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp rice vinegar
2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
1 tsp fresh minced ginger (or bottled)
1 tsp hot chili-garlic sauce
1 lb extra firm tofu drained and sliced to about 1/4-inch thick
12 tsp salt divided
14 tsp black pepper
